Our Story

Stars for Life was founded in 2002 by a group of determined families who shared a common belief: their children deserved meaningful opportunities beyond the school system.

At a time when appropriate services for young adults with autism were limited, these families chose action over acceptance. Together with a voluntary board of committed community members, they built a foundation rooted in dignity, lifelong learning, and inclusion.

From its earliest days, Stars for Life has been driven by advocacy, not only for access to services, but for recognition of the strengths, potential, and contributions of autistic individuals within our community.

Our Approach

At Stars for Life, we believe every individual deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, contribute, and thrive within their community. Our approach is built around recognizing each person's unique strengths, interests, goals, and support needs. We understand that there is no one-size-fits-all solution. That's why our programs are designed to provide meaningful opportunities for personal development while respecting each individual's pace, preferences, and aspirations.

    Everything we do begins with the individual. We work closely with participants and their families to understand their goals and create opportunities that foster independence, confidence, and success. By focusing on strengths rather than limitations, we help individuals build skills and achieve meaningful outcomes.

    We believe some of the most valuable learning happens through hands-on experiences. Our programs provide opportunities to develop life skills, workplace readiness, social connections, health and wellness habits, and community engagement through practical, everyday activities.

    Whether it's learning to prepare meals, developing workplace skills, managing daily routines, or navigating community spaces, we strive to equip participants with the tools and confidence needed to become as independent as possible.
